This is such neat idea, hosted by The Nester, this year! I have always loved touring homes and seeing all the light and decoration displays all over town, and this is a neat way to tour everyone’s home while sitting in my own!
I knew I should have scheduled this post last night while I was online, because I knew then that today was going to be a very busy Monday! I am sorry to admit that I did not follow my first instinct, thus the extremely late post on here tonight! Ah, well… Feel free to look around anyway!
Due to our recent move and the fact this is only a “borrowed” home for the next twenty months (and counting down!), I found it hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year. I also found that I had very little desire to put all of my decorations out, since most of them had been purchased specifically for our home and not the one we are currently living in. I apologize if that sounds scroogish of me, but that’s just the way it is this year. Being a decorator at heart though (and for the sake of our kiddos), I did manage to at least get our main living area somewhat “Christmas-fied”.
sideboard in dining room
I love that you can see our sparkly tree and the beads on our chandelier in the mirror in this shot! Most of what you can see on the sideboard is new to us this year… the bird cage was a thrift store find, and I filled it with pine garland, pine cones, some red decorative nuts, and candles. The sign (which says “Christmas Blessings”) was a bargain at Ross again. The rest, of course, are items that we have simply collected over time.
our glowing Christmas tree
This picture was just neat to me when I got it uploaded! I love the way the tree glows when the lights are out! I love the way the golden and metallic ornaments just sparkle in the lights of the tree too!
one of many Nativity scenes throughout our home
We have always made a point to have at least one Nativity scene out in our house during the Christmas season. I never want my children, or myself, to forget what this time of year really celebrates! I love it when our little ones point to the manger and question me about that tiny baby! At times, it still gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes to think of His birth and how very unworthy I am to have received such a special and Incredible Gift.
fireplace and mantle
I have to admit, I am loving having this full fireplace and mantle to decorate! Our real home doesn’t have a mantle built around the fireplace just yet… still working on my dad for that one! Maybe I will get it by the time we are packed and moving back that way! Anyway, I loved running the garland and lights around our individual stocking holders. I’m not sure you can tell from the picture, but each stocking has its own character or scene, a name monogrammed on it, and a stocking holder that matches. Personally, I would probably prefer something a little more formal, but the children really enjoy these stockings, so they work well for now!
My little elf had to pose for one of the shots too! It was her idea to turn on the fireplace so “the people on the computer” could see what it looked like!
I did get some lights wrapped on our porch railing and a wreath and garland on our front door as well, but the lights in the garland are not working, so I didn’t bother with taking a picture of that. Sorry! Other than that, I hope you enjoyed the small tour of my home at Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!
