On Friday of last week, I loaded up all three kiddos and made a very long, seemingly unending trip from North Carolina to Alabama to visit with family. It seems I am feeling some sort of “jet lag” as a result of such a long journey, just me, myself, and three anxious children. Despite being jet lagged (or car lagged??) though, our days have been full… full of family time with parents, grandparents, cousins, and siblings. We have visited old friends and even found time to yard sale a bit early Saturday morning. We attended old churches and had very special times of fellowship.
My children have enjoyed fun-filled days of running over green pastures and chasing various farm animals. They have also bounced around those same pastures on the back of a four-wheeler, with only their squeals of delight to be heard over the engine noise. It is most definitely summer time and my little ones could not be happier! They have found a great freedom in this countryside and are loving every minute of it.
Though my body is still recovering from the drive, my heart is overwhelmed with the joy of watching summer make its mark on their childhood. I am slightly jet lagged, but I am so, so full.
