Where Do We Start?
Most projects require a 50% deposit to begin, with the final balance due upon completion. I use Freshbooks to manage my invoices, and payments can be sent via Paypal or check.
What Do I Need for a WordPress Site?
If we are building a new site for you, or moving you from Blogger to WordPress, there are a few things that are necessary.
- Domain – Either we will need to purchase a new domain for you, or we will need access to where your current domain is registered (usually somewhere like GoDaddy or NameCheap).
- Hosting – WordPress.org requires a host account to “house” your site files. I recommend BlueHost, but HostGator is also a good option.
- Theme – A WordPress theme is necessary to customize the look of your site. Each theme comes with its own capabilities. The Genesis Framework by StudioPress is the foundational theme I use most often and have found to be the most flexible.
Will You Design My Site?
I am a WordPress developer, not a designer. If you have existing artwork you would like to use, I can help you customize those to fit your theme. If you do not have any graphics, I can recommend a few super talented designers.
What Features Come with My New Site?
WordPress uses add-ons called plugins that add functionality to your site. Included in most basic site projects are plugins for Google Analytics, social media sharing (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.), a contact form, and a spam filter for comments.
What is a Virtual Assistant?
A Virtual Assistant is like a personal assistant who works virtually, meaning we can work together regardless of either of our respective locations. The majority of work requests and correspondence are handled via email; occasionally a Skype or phone conversation is necessary. You can view a basic list of the Virtual Assistant services I offer here.
